The Biden Administration has announced major initiatives to encourage democratic governance and to strengthen the rule of law in the Northern countries of Central America. These initiatives are a central part of a U.S. strategy to address the root causes of migration by fighting corruption, strengthening governance and providing new economic opportunities in Central America as alternatives to irregular migration. By working with regional partners, civil society and the private sector, the U.S. supports local efforts that contribute to a better future and will restore hope for Central Americans. During this fireside chat, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Emily Mendrala will discuss these initiatives and their progress with SIF’s Executive Director, Adriana Beltrán.
This session will be livestreamed on Seattle International Foundation’s social media pages.
