Community philanthropy is an effective practice for achieving sustainable development and strengthening civil society that is growing in the region. Foundations and community funds have the power to manage and channel local and international economic resources and other assets. However, to increase the impact of community philanthropy, a supportive ecosystem that nurtures its capacities, capabilities, connections and credibility, while driving transformative partnerships, is needed. This session will be a space of inspiration to empower community philanthropy in the region. Based on the World Café methodology, it will be a facilitated dialogue about the ecosystems that support the development of community philanthropy in countries of the region, the lessons learned and opportunities to adapt the model that has been developed in Mexico, as well as the challenges to catalyze the movement of foundations and community funds in Costa Rica.
