LGBTIQ+ children and adolescents need protection networks that recognize their realities and respond to their needs. But what happens when child rights and LGBTIQ+ movements work separately?

This session is an invitation to build bridges: to share experiences, recognize challenges, and explore how we can bring together capacities, knowledge, and struggles to strengthen the protection of LGBTIQ+ children and adolescents. Drawing on experiences from El Salvador and Guatemala, we will discuss the opportunities and challenges of building alliances between both movements, particularly in contexts of democratic backsliding and shrinking civic space.

This session builds on findings from a situational study on the potential and challenges of civil society organizations supporting LGBTIQ+ children and young people in El Salvador, conducted by Terre des Hommes and Asociación de Mujeres Ixchel. The study identifies an urgent need to strengthen these connections.
